- You are 18 years or older.
- You were admitted to the intensive care unit after a cardiac arrest.
- After resuscitation, you were still unresponsive (not able to respond).
- You are not considered actively dying or at the very end of life at the time they assess you.
- They can obtain consent within 24 hours after resuscitation.
- Your blood count is not too low, and you do not have ongoing heavy bleeding or need urgent blood transfusions.
