Create a heart tissue and blood sample registry

This study collects blood and/or heart tissue samples from certain people getting heart procedures or with a long-term heart pump. The goal is to store these samples for future research that may improve care for heart failure.

Who can take part

  • You’re over 18 years old
  • You may be eligible if you’re either planned for an LVAD or heart transplant, or you’re having another heart surgery where discarded tissue is removed
  • Alternatively, you may qualify if you already have a long-term heart pump (VAD) and no heart surgery is planned when you sign up
  • You agree to donate blood and/or heart tissue samples
  • You agree your samples will be stored long-term for research
  • You (or your legal representative) can sign consent in writing
