Who can take part
- Be over 18 years old and able to say you understand and agree to take part
- Have a specific heart electrical test finding called a Q wave on an ECG
- Have a heart attack scar (myocardial scar) that is deep/major on MRI and cannot be fixed by opening blocked heart arteries
- Be a candidate for bypass surgery for other parts of the heart, not the scar area being studied
- Not have major serious illnesses likely to limit life to less than 1 year
- Not have certain conditions that prevent MRI (heart imaging) or major kidney or liver problems
