Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You are currently in the hospital for heart failure symptoms (such as fluid in the lungs or legs) or a serious heart complication like cardiogenic shock
  • Your heart function is abnormal on an echocardiogram (an ultrasound of the heart)
  • You are able and willing to sign informed consent
  • You do not strongly refuse study testing or follow-up visits
