Who can take part

  • You have type 2 diabetes (not type 1, not gestational diabetes, not secondary diabetes)
  • You are age 50 or older
  • Your blood sugar average is not extremely high (HbA1c 10% or lower)
  • Your depression score is below 30 but not very low (Beck Depression Inventory between 10 and 29)
  • You can safely use contraception if you could become pregnant
  • You agree in writing after learning the study, alternatives, and risks
