This study looks at how weight and blood-sugar/fat changes in the body may affect the airways in people with asthma. You may be asked to complete breathing tests and possibly an airway procedure (bronchoscopy) to help researchers compare groups.

Who can take part
- Be between 18 and 65 years old and be able to give written consent
- Have smoked fewer than 10 pack-years total and not have smoked in the past year
- Have a doctor-confirmed asthma diagnosis for more than 6 months (if you’re in the asthma groups)
- Have the needed “metabolic” or “non-metabolic” or “obese/non-obese” body measurements (like BMI and specific blood/waist/blood pressure results)
- Not be pregnant, and avoid cannabis/nicotine results that test positive (cotinine/THC)
- Have no major uncontrolled health problems, no current statin use, and no diabetes medicines
