Who can take part

  • Be 21 to 75 years old.
  • Have had a stroke on one side of the brain (not the brainstem or cerebellum).
  • Have not had a prior stroke.
  • Be able to walk at a slower pace (self-selected speed of 0.80 meters per second or less).
  • Be able to stand and walk more than 10 meters without another person physically helping you.
  • Not have serious heart, breathing, or major body chemistry problems that would make training unsafe.
