Who can take part

  • Be between 21 and 70 years old
  • Have a BMI under 40
  • If you have type 2 diabetes, your A1c must be 8.0% to 12.0% and your blood sugar should be fairly steady
  • Have normal (not abnormal) blood sugar tests if you do not have diabetes, such as A1c and fasting glucose
  • Have no major organ problems (kidney, liver, or blood issues) that the study doctor screens for
  • Have a negative urine drug screen for certain substances and not be in another study right now
