Who can take part
- Be between 3 and 18 years old
- Be scheduled for elective tonsillectomy (tonsil removal) with or without adenoid removal
- Have a generally healthy heart/lung status (ASA class 1 or 2)
- Have the surgery planned as an outpatient visit (go home the same day)
- Do not have a gabapentin allergy or known renal (kidney) problems
- Avoid if BMI is over 40, or if there is chronic pain or a developmental delay history
