Who can take part
- Be 18 years or older and scheduled for a minimally invasive chest surgery (like VATS or robot-assisted wedge/segmentectomy or lobectomy)
- Weigh at least 48 kg
- Not be pregnant or breastfeeding (for females)
- Not take opioid (narcotic) pain medicine for chronic pain near the surgical area before surgery
- Be able to reliably tell staff your pain score (for example, no dementia or major confusion)
- Not have allergies to numbing medicines or the specific pain medicines used in the study
