Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and planning weight-loss surgery (laparoscopic gastric bypass or sleeve) at the study hospital.
  • You are well enough medically—for example, you should not have severe overall health risk (ASA higher than 3).
  • You do not have certain heart rhythm or heart conditions (like very slow heart rate under 50 bpm).
  • You can safely take the planned study medicines and have no known allergy to oxycodone, esketamine, dexmedetomidine, or lidocaine.
  • You can speak Swedish well enough and complete questionnaires; you should also not have serious untreated mental or thinking problems.
  • You are not pregnant, and if you could become pregnant, you must use reliable birth control during the study.
