This trial looks at whether doing a prostate “laser procedure” (called HoLEP) before starting radiation and hormone therapy can improve severe urinary symptoms and reduce urine retention problems. It is for people with prostate cancer who are planning radiation plus hormone treatment and who have significant bladder/urinary trouble.

Who can take part
- Be 18 years old or older
- Have significant urinary symptoms or urine retention (examples: AUA symptom score 15+ and/or residual urine 350 mL+, or needing a catheter)
- Have prostate cancer confirmed by tissue/pathology testing
- Plan to treat your prostate cancer with radiation plus hormone therapy (androgen deprivation therapy) as the main treatment
- Have had no prior prostate cancer treatment and no prior prostate surgery (except a prostate biopsy is allowed)
