Who can take part

  • You must be a man age 45 or older
  • Your doctor must consider you a candidate for the HoLEP laser procedure
  • Your prostate size must be at least 50 mL and no more than 150 mL (measured by a specific ultrasound test)
  • Your urinary symptoms must be significant (IPSS 12 or higher, and quality-of-life score 3 or higher)
  • Your urine flow is limited (Qmax 15 mL/s or less with a minimum bladder volume test) OR you are in urinary retention
  • You must be able to give written consent and complete required questionnaires
