Who can take part

  • You’re age 18 or older and can sign consent
  • You have AML or MDS that has turned into AML, and you’re starting intensive chemotherapy
  • You expect to be in the hospital during the period when neutrophils drop very low (absolute neutrophils <500)
  • You do NOT already have a severe fungal infection from the last 3 months, and you don’t have mold infection at enrollment
  • You cannot have certain allergies to azole antifungal medicines
  • You can’t have major liver problems or a long QT heart rhythm measurement
