PET scan test for multiple myeloma response and treatment effect

Who can take part

  • You have symptomatic multiple myeloma and are starting first-line treatment (the initial approach).
  • You are not a candidate for autologous bone marrow transplant (your own cells).
  • Your myeloma can be measured, either by a blood test for a monoclonal protein or by free light chain levels (in blood or urine).
  • You are considered well enough for study procedures (Karnofsky 70+ or ECOG 0–1).
  • If you could become pregnant, you must have a recent pregnancy test and use reliable birth control during the study and afterward.
  • Your main blood and organ tests must be safe (including not having very low white cells/platelets, and kidney/liver function above set limits).
