Who can take part
- Be 18 years or older.
- Have strong signs of body-wide inflammation on blood tests (such as high CRP, high IL-6, or a high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio).
- Currently be hospitalized for sudden worsening of long-term “weakened pumping” heart failure.
- Be being evaluated for an LVAD, including very weak heart pumping (low ejection fraction) and serious symptoms despite usual medicines.
- Have kidney function strong enough to enroll at baseline (eGFR 40 or higher) and have one of these heart–kidney worsening situations (serious right-heart strain or worsening kidney function tied to heart failure).
- Have specific monitoring in place: a pulmonary artery catheter in place and a required lung-pressure number (PCW 20 or higher).
