Who can take part

  • You had a stroke from a blocked blood vessel (ischemic) on the left side of the brain within the last 5 days
  • You are 18 years or older, and you can speak English well (by self-report)
  • You had no past brain disease that would affect the brain (including a prior symptomatic stroke)
  • You have aphasia confirmed by a language test called the Western Aphasia Battery-Revised (aphasia quotient under 93.8)
  • You must be able to consent (or have a legally authorized representative who can consent for you)
