Exercise program for adults with degenerative scoliosis pain

This pilot study tests an exercise program to help reduce pain and improve function in adults over 50 with degenerative scoliosis. It may be helpful if your spine curve is in a moderate range and you’re not recently had certain injections or surgery.

Who can take part

  • Be an adult over 50 years old
  • Have degenerative scoliosis (scoliosis that developed over time, not from childhood)
  • Have back pain higher than 2 out of 10
  • Your spinal curve angle should be between 15° and 45°
  • Avoid joining if your curve is over 50° and you’re considered a surgery candidate
  • Don’t join if you had steroid (cortisone) or anesthesia injections in the last 3 months, or have conditions that make exercises unsafe (like recent fractures, active cancer, severe heart/lung problems, or weak bones/osteopenia)
