Who can take part

  • You have primary hyperparathyroidism (not a different type caused by another condition).
  • You had a non-localizing SPECT-CT scan within the last 12 months (the first scan didn’t clearly find the gland).
  • You want surgery as treatment for your condition.
  • Your blood calcium was at least 10.5 mg/dL before the first scan.
  • You can safely receive the scan tracer and calcitonin (no known allergy/contraindications).
  • You can avoid pregnancy during the study and can give research consent for a second scan.
