Who can take part

  • Be 18 or older
  • Have locally advanced breast cancer or cancer that has come back in the same area (metastases may be allowed if stable or limited)
  • Need higher-dose palliative radiation aimed to control the tumor in the body area
  • Have a tumor that doctors can safely inject into during a procedure and measure on ultrasound or MRI (about 3–15 cm across)
  • Not have had prior radiation to the exact target area
  • Be well enough physically and mentally to receive high-dose radiation, and be able to follow the MRI scans
  • (If you could become pregnant) have a negative pregnancy test and agree to avoid pregnancy during treatment and for 3 months after
