Who can take part
- You are getting a VNS implant for the first time for epilepsy
- You have had follow-up with a neurologist within the last year (in Louisville, or you can travel if you’re elsewhere)
- You can travel to Louisville for outpatient visits
- You have not had VNS before (no prior VNS device treatment)
- You are not currently pregnant and can safely have surgery
- You do not have certain heart rhythm problems or an implanted heart device like a pacemaker/defibrillator
