Who can take part
- You’re age 18 to 75.
- You feel well from a heart standpoint—no exercise limits or heart-related complaints—confirmed by your cardiologist.
- You have severe “organic” mitral valve leakage (caused by valve damage, not blocked blood flow), confirmed on an echocardiogram.
- Your heart pumping is still strong: ejection fraction over 60% and a certain heart size on ultrasound (LV end-systolic dimension under 45 mm).
- Your heart team believes valve repair is likely (more than 90%).
- You do not have certain exclusions like high lung pressure, atrial fibrillation, very poor kidney function, or being unable to undergo surgery.
