RH-matched blood transfusions for sickle cell patients

Who can take part

  • Your child must be older than 6 months
  • Your child has sickle cell disease (SCD), any RH or other genotype
  • Your child is expected to need chronic red blood cell transfusions for a period of time
  • A parent/guardian can give consent, and the child can agree if they are old enough
  • There must be enough RH-matched red blood cell units available for your child’s rare blood marker pattern
