Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and recently admitted to the ICU
  • Your body has at least a 5% fluid overload (based on how much fluid you’ve had in total)
  • Your blood pressure and treatments are stable enough (MAP above 50, and noradrenaline dose not higher than 20 mcg/kg/min; lactate under 4)
  • Your kidney situation is not severely advanced: no known advanced chronic kidney disease (eGFR below 30 or long-term kidney machine), and you are not already on ongoing dialysis/renal replacement
  • You can safely take the study medicines: no allergy to furosemide or sulfonamide antibiotics, no very dangerous bleeding, no major severe electrolyte or liver problems, and consent is possible
