Who can take part

  • You had a traumatic bleeding in the brain while you were taking a DOAC for atrial fibrillation (AF), a clot, or both
  • Your doctor is planning to restart a DOAC, and the timing is uncertain enough to study different restart intervals
  • Your risk of future clots or stroke is higher (based on a CHA2DS2-VASc score above 3)
  • You likely do not have certain higher-risk bleed features on brain imaging (for example, a large subdural bleed or midline shift)
  • You can safely follow the study plan for taking the DOAC and attending required follow-ups
