Who can take part

  • Be older than 18 years
  • Be planning a first (primary) hip or knee replacement
  • Not have a past blood clot, active cancer, or a known tendency to clot easily
  • Have a BMI of 40 or less
  • You must be able to safely take aspirin/anti-inflammatory medicines (no ulcer or other known contraindication)
  • Not require blood thinners already for another medical condition
