Who can take part

  • Age 18 to 75 years old
  • You have permanent tinnitus (constant), not coming and going, and not linked to a balance/inner-ear problem
  • Your tinnitus is severe: loudness distress is at least 7 out of 10 on a visual scale, and your THI quality-of-life score is above 76
  • Your tinnitus has resisted standard treatments (treatment has not worked)
  • You can have surgery safely: no major medical problems that would make anesthesia/surgery unsafe, and you can do MRI/CT scans if needed
  • You should not be on certain blood-thinning medicines around the surgery dates, and you must not have pregnancy or unable-to-verify contraception if applicable
