Vigabatrin plus high-dose steroid versus vigabatrin alone

Infantile SpasmWest Syndrome

This trial tests whether adding a high-dose steroid (prednisolone) to vigabatrin works better than vigabatrin alone for infants with infantile spasms. It may help reduce seizures and improve early development, but your child’s prior treatments and health conditions must fit the study rules.

Who can take part

  • Your baby must be 2 to 14 months old when joining
  • Your baby has been diagnosed with infantile spasms by a child nerve doctor (neurologist)
  • You and/or your family must be Thai
  • Your baby must not have taken vigabatrin or steroid medicine in the last 28 days
  • Your baby cannot have certain genetic brain seizure syndromes like early epileptic encephalopathy
  • Your baby must not have suspected tuberous sclerosis complex (a specific condition), or related family/organ findings
