Study brain immune activity in people with mild asthma

This trial studies how immune cells in the brain (called microglia) may be activated in asthma. You may be able to help researchers test whether a specific “immune pathway” differs in certain asthma patients using brain scans and breathing/allergy testing.

Who can take part

  • Be 18–75 years old
  • Have a doctor-diagnosed asthma for at least 6 months and it should be mild and well controlled
  • Have good lung function at screening (about at least 75% predicted, and at least 70% predicted at baseline)
  • Show asthma that reacts to a breathing test (like albuterol improving breathing, or a positive methacholine test)
  • Have asthma symptoms triggered by one of these allergens: cats, dust mites, or ragweed (plus a matching positive skin test)
  • Be able to safely complete MRI brain scans and avoid “held” medications as instructed before each visit
