Cohort study of causes of daytime sleepiness and sleepiness disorders

This study follows people with frequent daytime sleepiness (sometimes from narcolepsy or hypersomnia) and compares them with matched healthy people, including some with sleep apnea. Who can take part

  • You have frequent (daily or almost daily) daytime sleepiness or hypersomnia for at least 1 month
  • You can have standard sleep/brain electrical testing (electrophysiological routine assessment) and agree to it
  • You can provide informed consent
  • If you are a healthy control, you will be age- and gender-matched (and may be a blood relative of a participant)
  • If you have sleep apnea-related sleepiness, your obstructive sleep apnea must be untreated and severe, and you must meet specific sleep test results
