Who can take part

  • You are an adult (18 or older) having non-heart surgery
  • You will be under general anesthesia
  • Your anesthesia plan uses total intravenous anesthesia (given through IV medicines, not inhaled gas)
  • You will be given rocuronium to relax your breathing muscles
  • You will not receive any different muscle-relaxing (nerve-blocking) drug during the same surgery
  • You do not have a known nerve or muscle condition that could affect monitoring
