Who can take part
- Your child is older than 6 months and younger than 12 years
- Your child has been on a breathing machine (intubated and mechanically ventilated) for less than 24 hours
- Your child’s Glasgow Coma Scale score on PICU admission is greater than 3
- Your child does not have a recent heart/lung arrest (cardiopulmonary arrest)
- Your child does not have known diaphragm paralysis or a neuromuscular (nerve or muscle) disease
