Brain stimulation for treatment-resistant depression and chronic pain

Who can take part

  • You must be between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You must speak English fluently.
  • You must have a diagnosis of moderate or severe major depression, with a score of at least 17 on a standard depression scale.
  • You must have tried at least two different antidepressant medications from different classes without success.
  • You must have tried at least two evidence-based add-on treatments (like therapy or other medications) for depression, and had a trial of effective psychotherapy.
  • You must also have a confirmed diagnosis of fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome, with moderate pain lasting at least 3 months.
  • You cannot have had prior TMS treatment, be pregnant, have active suicidal thoughts, or have certain medical conditions (like epilepsy or metal implants).
