Ibudilast for spinal cord pressure from neck wear

This Phase 3 study tests ibudilast, a medicine, to see if it can improve symptoms in people whose neck arthritis has started compressing the spinal cord. You would still have your usual surgery to relieve the pressure, and then take the study medicine to see if recovery and function improve.

Who can take part

  • You have degenerative neck spinal cord compression (degenerative cervical myelopathy) confirmed by the trial’s standard criteria
  • Your symptoms are in the mid range: mJOA score between 8 and 14 (from a neurologic function test)
  • You are scheduled to have your first surgery to decompress your neck under usual care
  • You have NOT had prior surgery for degenerative cervical myelopathy
  • You can safely take ibudilast and gelatin-based products, and you don’t have significant active liver disease or abnormal liver blood tests (per thresholds)
