Who can take part

  • You are over 18 years old
  • You have neck spinal cord compression from wear-and-tear (degenerative myelopathy) affecting the C3 to C7 area, involving 1 to 4 levels
  • You have at least one symptom or exam finding showing spinal cord problems (myelopathy)
  • You have never had surgery on your neck spine before
  • You can understand and read Swedish and agree to follow all study visits and procedures
  • You are eligible for both surgery options (fusion or no fusion) and can sign consent
