DFMO to prevent return of high-risk or relapsed medulloblastoma

Who can take part

  • You were diagnosed with medulloblastoma and the tumor subtype was identified by special lab tests (Nanostring or methylation testing).
  • You must be between 0 and 21 years old at diagnosis.
  • Before starting DFMO, you need updated disease staging: MRI of the brain and spine (and a spinal fluid test or bone marrow test only if they were previously positive).
  • Your current scans must show either no active disease or stable leftover tumor that is small (and not growing on two scans at least 6 weeks apart).
  • You usually must start DFMO within 60 days after your last standard chemotherapy dose (with extra timing rules if you had high-dose chemo plus stem cell transplant).
  • You must meet safety checks: good performance/energy level (Lansky or Karnofsky score at least 50%), enough blood counts and organ function, and no uncontrolled infection.
