Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have heart failure, and it has been diagnosed for more than 3 months
  • On exam, you do not have signs of fluid buildup in the lungs or legs (no crackles; leg swelling is not more than around the ankle)
  • You can consent to the study and are covered by social security
  • You have not had a natriuretic peptide test in the last 30 days (as part of the study visit)
  • You do not have lung conditions that would make ultrasound hard to read (for example severe emphysema or certain long-term lung lining/scarring problems)
