Who can take part

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have advanced “end-stage” heart failure despite best medicines, with low heart pumping ability (such as low ejection fraction) and severe symptoms (NYHA class III–IV)
  • Have taken the usual heart failure medicines at the highest tolerated doses for at least 45 days (including certain blood-pressure medicines, mineralocorticoid blockers, and SGLT2 inhibitors)
  • If you need them, have had a pacemaker/defibrillator setup (cardiac resynchronization therapy and/or implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) for at least 45 days
  • Not be dependent on IV heart-strengthening medicines (inotropes) or have had a heart pump device in the last 30 days
  • Have no major exclusions like serious uncontrolled infection, inability to take blood thinners, or severe organ damage that would limit survival
