This trial tests canakinumab to lower the risk of lung cancer growing from persistent lung nodules seen on CT scans. It may help people at higher risk who have either never had lung cancer or had early lung cancer treated in the past.

Who can take part
- Be at least 18 years old and able to give written consent
- Have persistent lung nodules (IPNs) seen on two CT scans at least 3 months apart, with no shrinkage or growth change
- Be in one of these groups: no prior lung cancer with a moderate/high cancer-risk score, or prior stage I–III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with cure, with persistent nodules
- Agree to avoid pregnancy and follow contraception rules during treatment and for 6 months after the last dose (including no sperm donation for men during this time)
- Be well enough for study treatment (ECOG 0–1) and have adequate blood, liver, and kidney test results
