Who can take part

  • You are age 18 or older.
  • You have rectal adenocarcinoma (a confirmed cancer type) proven by biopsy or other lab testing.
  • Your cancer stage is clinical stage I, II, or III, with no confirmed spread to distant organs.
  • You must be able to get MRI and CT scans for planning and follow-up (including MRI of the pelvis).
  • Your blood counts and liver function meet certain minimum lab levels, and you are not on dialysis.
  • You need to be able to take oral medicines, and your medical team believes you should receive systemic chemotherapy.
