  • Age 18–75 years
  • Rectal cancer confirmed by biopsy, located within 10 cm of the anal opening
  • Cancer has not spread to distant organs
  • No prior cancer treatment (radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapy)
  • Good overall health and ability to tolerate treatment (ECOG performance status 0–1)
  • Blood counts and liver/kidney function within acceptable ranges
