- You are a child scheduled for an acetabular or proximal femoral osteotomy (hip bone surgery).
- Your general health is considered low risk (ASA class I or II).
- Your parent or legal guardian agrees to the study.
- You do not have a known bleeding or blood-clotting problem.
- Your blood counts are not low (hemoglobin is at least 11 g/dL for girls or 12 g/dL for boys).
- You do not have a history of seizures (epilepsy) and do not have kidney problems or kidney failure.
