Who can take part

  • You are age 70 or older
  • You are scheduled for major surgery of the abdomen, gynecology, urinary tract, chest, or bones
  • The surgery will use general anesthesia and is expected to last more than 60 minutes
  • Your surgery is planned (not an emergency) and you will be seen at the pre-op clinic by internal medicine and/or anesthesia
  • You can take part in thinking tests (you do not have major hearing or vision problems that stop testing)
  • You can communicate in French or English
