Who can take part
- You must be 18 to 100 years old
- You were having elective surgery expected to last at least 60 minutes (for the surgery group), or you are not planning surgery for the next 3 months (for the control group)
- You must be able and willing to sign written consent to let the study use your information
- You should not have major past neurologic problems (like stroke or seizure history)
- You need enough German language ability and no severe hearing or vision problems that would block testing
- You should not be a hospital staff member, and you should have a stable way to be reached after surgery
