Who can take part

  • You are 18 to 55 years old
  • You meet standard NIH criteria for weight-loss (bariatric) surgery
  • Your cholesterol problems (dyslipidemia) are controlled with medication
  • You have problems with blood sugar regulation, such as prediabetes or type 2 diabetes
  • Your diabetes, blood pressure, and cholesterol must NOT be poorly controlled
