Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • Your BMI is 40 or higher, or your BMI is 35 or higher with a weight-related health problem (like high blood pressure or sleep apnea).
  • You are scheduled for one of two types of weight loss surgery: gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy.
  • Your weight has been stable for the last 3 months (no more than a 10% change in body weight).
  • You are not pregnant and do not plan to become pregnant in the first two years after surgery.
