Who can take part

  • You have an overactive thyroid and are scheduled for thyroid surgery because of Graves’ disease or toxic nodular goiter
  • Your lab test shows free T4 is under 30 pmol/L, or you have Graves’ disease
  • You can sign an informed consent form and understand what the study involves
  • You have no major uncontrolled heart, kidney, or liver problems
  • You are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding, and pregnancy prevention rules can be followed if applicable
