- You are age 18 to 85 and having planned open-heart surgery
- You (or your legal representative) can complete and understand the study consent process
- You must have enough heart tissue for analysis (from surgery) to be used
- You do not lack mental capacity to consent
- You do not have an active blood-borne infection like HIV
- You do not have a recent positive COVID-19 test within the last 10 days
