Who can take part
- Your age is over 36 weeks after birth (corrected age) and under 17 years old
- Your central line was placed within the last 24 hours
- The central line is in the internal jugular (neck) or femoral (thigh) vein
- You do not have a diagnosed clot at the line site in the last 6 weeks
- You are not on blood-thinning medicines already (other than keeping a catheter open with special-dose heparin)
- You do not have certain bleeding or clotting risks (recent bleeding, surgery/major trauma, major clotting lab issues, or known HIT)
