Who can take part

  • Your child is in the hospital and needs a new central line for their care.
  • Your child does not have a known bleeding disorder or very low platelets (under 50,000).
  • Your child is not already on blood thinners for another reason.
  • Your child does not have a heparin allergy or a history of a low-platelet reaction to heparin.
  • The line being placed is a standard central line or PICC, not a dialysis catheter.
